The arrival of Peanut

Well, exactly as expected, Peanut joined us on the 10-day overdue mark. Here's how the arrival went down:
830 AM: received phone call from the L&D unit asking us to come down. Mom was up already, I was still sleeping. I got up fast! Ran downstairs to wake up Gradma and Grandpa to let them know and so they could watch Bug. After a quick shower and pack, we left for the hospital at 9:10.
9:30: Arrive at hospital to a very quiet L&D unit - only one other girl in there!
10:00 Mom is induced (gel)
12:00 For some bizarre reason (they were too busy? come on!) they moved us down to the Mother Baby unit. Before moving us, they determined mommy was 1-2 cm dilated. In the new unit, we shared a room with another woman, not sure what stage she was at. This move was ridiculous. The only plus was at that point they let us put our name down for a private room, usually you can't hit 'the list' until you have your baby and you're ready to move. So by the time the baby came around, we were first on the list! Most of the rooms are public, meaning there's 4 beds, 4 chairs, and curtains. Not very nice for moms, there's never any rest with 3 other newborns in the same room and friends/family in and out.
2:00-2:45 Went for a bath, to help the process along and to ease the cramps that were setting in. The cramps got more intense. Asked nurse to come check.
3:00 Cramps really intense! Waiting for &*#$% nurse
3:15 Water broke Calling for ^&@# nurse!
3:30 Sent back to L&D; 3 cm now
5:00 Epidural administered. Can you say relief?
5:25 8 cm dilated now.... things are getting more interesting by the minute.
5:45 mom has to pee, but nurse doesn't think that's such a good idea. One last check verifies things... She says "Well, why don't we just have a baby then?"
6:00 Pushing really commences
6:23 Baby arrives (At this point still nameless!) Everything looks OK. Unit intact. Alright!
After a quick hold in mom's arms, he's whisked off to the bedside table for Apgar scoring (9!) and the usual wipedown. He's back to us shortly (although it seemed like forever)
8 lbs 14 oz! Little big guy. That's my peanut!
